Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Roadmap & Stakeholder Alignment
    • Contribute to product roadmap planning by gathering and analyzing customer requirements and industry trends.
    • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to align on inspection capabilities, performance targets, and delivery timelines.
  • System Requirements & Architecture
    • Define and validate system-level requirements including calibration, image acquisition, defect detection, and throughput optimization.
    • Translate functional needs into technical specifications and ensure traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Cross-Functional Development
    • Collaborate with hardware, software and algorithm teams to architect and implement integrated solutions.
    • Support system bring-up, integration, and debug activities across subsystems
  • Performance Validation & Production Readiness
    • Develop and execute test plans to validate system performance against KPIs such as sensitivity, false detection rate, and inspection time.
    • Ensure readiness for high-volume manufacturing by supporting reliability testing, calibration automation, and field issue resolution.
  • Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
    • Investigate inspection anomalies using data analysis tools and propose corrective actions or design improvements.
    • Drive root cause analysis and implement solutions to improve system robustness and yield.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment, mask or wafer inspection, or related high-precision systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience in data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python, JMP)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
