Software Testing Engineering Technician Position Summary: As a Software Testing Engineering Technician, you will support the U.S. Navy. You will develop, implement, and maintain technical tests of network and cyber security related systems. Duties may include defining and specifying the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of government software. Clearance Requirement: Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Develop, implement, and oversee execution of unit and software test plans Develop and implement unit tests to verify required functionality of software applications Troubleshoot network and computer hardware and software related issues Train end users to use and maintain the SABER (Situational Awareness, Boundary Enforcement & Response) system Plan and oversee Verification & Validation (V&V) of data models Tracing requirements Works collaboratively with technical experts, engineers, and technicians to ensure project success Required Education, Skills, and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent Security+ certification or equivalent 10+ years of professional experience in IT technical support, systems administration or cybersecurity 5+ years of experience in a software test environment Experience with government/DoD systems and security requirements Familiarity with industry-standard software test suites (e.g., JUnit) Experience with Jira Ability to implement STIGs Familiar with Linux and Windows environments Physical Demands and Expectations Up to 35% travel Regular physical activities such as walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, and prolonged sitting. Ability to carry up to 30 lbs. and navigate a shipboard environment. This position description represents a summary of the major components and requirements of the outlined job.
