JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB

This position is responsible for influencing and implementing technical industry best practices in all facets of SQL Server technologies, database design, analysis and support for Starkey Labs SQL based systems. This position is also seeking a secondary layer of expertise around Oracle EBS Application Administration and Oracle database support. This position will provide 24x7 support for the Starkey HQ as well as Starkey's global facilities. This position will interact directly with business partners to develop database solutions to meet the goals of the business, implement best practice processes and database design to optimize the availability and support of the Starkey SQL/Oracle database ecosystem.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS



  • Assess current databases, recommend, and implement IT standards - including but not limited to database design, configurations, upgrades, patches, maintenance plans, monitoring, capacity planning and availability reporting.
  • Meet with business partners to understand their business goals. Design, recommend and implement database solutions that align to those business needs as well as comply with IT standards.
  • Provide input to management on the technical roadmap for Starkey's database platforms.
  • Provide product End of Software Maintenance deadlines and application upgrade Research and resolve issues in an expedient manner and implement appropriate resolutions to prevent issues from re-occurring.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation to be shared with appropriate parties.
  • Respond to customers efficiently and effectively and close tickets promptly with a high level of accuracy.
  • Deploy code and ETL changes as required by the change control process.


Results - Performance Measures



  • Database implemented follow industry best practices and Starkey's IT design.
  • Databases are built with optimal uptime considerations.
  • Databases are adequately monitored, and thresholds reported to address potential issues prior to customer impact.
  • Databases are fully documented, and members are cross-trained.
  • Databases are kept current on patches, releases, and upgrades.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience required.


Experience: 5+ years field experience:



  • SQL Server Administrator in a 24x7 production business system setting.
  • Database backup/recovery, performance analysis, re-orgs, tuning, partitioning, patching, and upgrading.
  • Performing database replication, shrinking, troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Supporting SQL on MS-Windows.
  • Supporting SSIS, SSRS
  • Support SQL Availability groups and other forms of HA environments


2+ years field experience:



  • Oracle EBS Application and database administration on Linux systems
  • Supporting virtualized databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and on premise


Knowledge / Technical Requirements



  • SQL2019/Oracle 19c, and 12x is required.
  • Database backup concepts, practices and procedures is required.
  • Database performance monitoring/management tools is required (OEM, Spotlight, SolarWinds,)
  • Best practices on management of SQL and Oracle databases is required.
  • SQL and Oracle database backup and recovery methods
  • SQL and Oracle database security (all aspects)
  • Scripting is required.
  • Applicable Application/Reporting servers
  • SDLC procedures are preferred.
  • Oracle GoldenGate is preferred.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The target pay rate for this position is between $103,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
