Daikin Applied is seeking a talented and eager Manufacturing Skills Manager. This role is responsible for efficient and effective training of manufacturing skills for the assigned business unit. In this role you will work closely with operations, the quality leads, auditing, root cause analysis and corrective actions and the skills trainers in the assigned business unit to deliver ongoing learning needs analysis, design, development, assessment, implementation and evaluation of training to ensure alignment with business strategy across the organization. Location: In office, Staunton, VA

What you will do:



  • Provide direct supervision of the manufacturing skills and performance training team for the assigned business unit
  • Have substantial knowledge in ISO 9001: 2015 QMS and able to conduct first-party, second-party and third-party audits
  • Effective and efficient maintenance of quality management system (QMS) according to the needs and the requirements of the organization and able to match our QMS to support all the training requirements
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics following the ADDIE model of instructional design to improve performance
  • Design, develop, implement and evaluate training programs to ensure performance improvement
  • Coordinate and schedule training programs in conjunction with the trainers and operations
  • Support training within industries structured on the job training (TWI SOJT) programs
  • Ensure federal and state grant programs are implemented in compliance with grant contracts
  • Perform continuous improvement projects in skill and knowledge requirements for employees
  • Perform lean engineering practices and show employees ways to adopt the methodology
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations and manufacturing to improve job skills knowledge
  • Review external training requests and providing consultation on content and cost to benefit
  • Monitor training metrics and feedback loops to evaluate, and measure and share the effectiveness of the program, fully understand the results of the training program, and identify areas for improvements
  • Perform root cause and corrective and preventive action analysis as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:



  • 4-year bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience in a training role
  • This position requires the ability to lift 30 lbs and stand for long periods of time
  • The ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Training within Industry Job Instruction (TWI-JI) must be completed within 6 months of hire
  • Possess Instructional Design Certification or obtain within 1 year of hire
  • Posses Training Management Certification or obtain within 1 year of hire

  • The typical salary for this position ranges from $80,400-$132,800 + 10% bonus eligibility in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
