Job Summary

Provides direction, prioritization and guidance to the team in using innovative and best practice communications and marketing tactics to help achieve key district goals.

The salary range is $113,191 - 163,467 (12-month)

Qualifications

  • Position requires a bachelors degree in public relations, communications, marketing or a related field.
  • Additional education is desired.
  • Position requires 5-7 years of leadership experience in the communications field.
  • A demonstrated track record of innovative multi-channel storytelling is required.
  • Supervisory experience in a large, urban school district or an institution of higher learning is desired.
  • A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Responsibilities

  • Working at the direction of the Chief Communications Officer, provides direction and guidance to the team to help achieve key district goals.
  • Oversees development and implementation of a district-wide brand. Uses new and traditional media to reinforce the brand.
  • Leads to execution of projects required multiple channels of communications and marketing.
  • Guides the development of story ideas with the district content team from idea to reality.
  • Informs and leads implementation of an integrated strategic communications and marketing plan to inform and engage internal, external audiences and stakeholders.
  • With the support of the Chief Communications Officer, leads the day-to-day operations of the communications department.
  • Manages personnel, as assigned by the Chief Communications Officer, to include work allocation, training and problem resolution, evaluating performance and making recommendations for personnel actions according to the policies and procedures of MPS and direction provided by the Milwaukee Public Schools Board of Directors.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
