As AV's Director of Supply Chain, you will lead Space and Directed Energy Group's supply chain organization to shape and execute group strategy, while also managing the tactical execution of technical procurements in a high velocity environment. You will directly manage procurement, supplier qualification, source selection, and commodity group management for your business sector. You will develop and sustain a vision for continued growth and improved efficiency for the team, and integrating planning, manufacturing, and inventory management into the strategic vision for the fulfillment organization.

The Supply Chain serves a group of products including: early proof of concept prototypes; rapid capability deployable products; established commercial products; and major congressional line item major capability programs. The team manages a high mix of components, low cost COTS electronics, high cost ASICS, high precision optics, bespoke subcontracted major assemblies. The team is charged with managing a responsive and cost-efficient supply chain which prioritizes on-time delivery.

Position Responsibilities



  • Outline a vision for the supply chain organization, to accomplish near-term performance and long-term integration of all supply chain functions in line with organizational goals and performance KPI's.
  • Direct and supervise activities of personnel engaged in quoting, negotiating and purchasing of materials, equipment, machinery, services and supplies supporting product development, capital equipment, forecast orders and rapid capability product deployments.
  • Forecast and manage staffing levels to support business dynamics and regional needs.
  • Coach and monitor team to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations: SOX, FAR, Customer contracts, and Corporate finance and quality policies.
  • Improve, create, update, and maintain functional policies, procedures and tools in accordance with AS9000/ISO9000 requirements and corporate policies.
  • Improve and ensure effective leverage of MRP / ERP system.
  • Participate in audits both as an auditor and an auditee for interested parties.
  • Establish and realize cost reduction, supply chain improvement and vendor performance goals, working alongside supplier quality functions in developing supplier scorecards and participating in ongoing supplier performance assessments.
  • Oversee purchasing participation in the review of ECOs, Bills of Material, Supplier Selection and Negotiation during Development and Sustaining Activities over the product's life cycle.
  • Responsible for the management of suppler data and performance: Update and maintain accurate standard costs & accurate vendor lead times; maintain schedule and data accuracy within the MRP system; open order status and recovery plans; report on KPI's; conduct supplier reviews; issue and complete supplier corrective actions.
  • Work directly with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Programs, and Inventory, to minimize costs, optimize inventory and maximize turns, reduce non-conforming parts, and meet production performance goals. Support timely RMA processes.


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)



  • Master's degree is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 12 + years' experience in operations, supply chain, procurement with 8 years management experience
  • Knowledge of FAR and DFAR regulations and the nature of flow down requirements.
  • Knowledge of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulation) and EAR (Export Administration Regulation)
  • Understanding/knowledge of CPSR audits and requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Familiarity with top-tier ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, SAP, etc).
  • Comprehensive understanding of subcontractor solicitations and bid analysis/process.

  • Deep knowledge of the managed sub-functions and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
  • Professional Supply Chain Certification: APICS CPIM, CSCP, etc.

Special Requirements



  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOD clearance. (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.
