What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer for the Optimus Connectivity Team to help develop low latency and highly reliable connectivity to the bot. The role involves embedded software design and development across system layers, with an emphasis on performance, stability, and efficiency. You will help build the foundational infrastructure that supports autonomy workloads, working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What You'll Do
  • Write, debug, and maintain robust C/C++ software for the Optimus software stack; this may include components such as high-frame rate camera and vision stacks, GPU kernels, low-memory footprint libraries, high-performance inter-process communication buffers, telemetry and logging code, or evaluation/replay software improvements

  • Develop and maintain networking stacks and protocols including Ethernet, TCP/IP, and related foundational connectivity components

  • Optimize hardware resource usage and leverage custom hardware components where appropriate

  • Contribute to test automation frameworks to validate existing and new connectivity features

  • Advocate for best coding practices, and build tools to help engineers write better, more performant code (for instance, performance/memory tracking)

  • Generalize software frameworks as necessary while balancing abstraction with performance considerations

What You'll Bring
  • Experience programming in C/C++, including modern C++ standards (C++14/17/20)

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc.

  • Experience with low-level systems software, OS concepts, and system performance optimization

  • Proficient developing software on a Linux host, with experience in cross-compilation and embedded Linux targets a plus

  • Experience or familiarity with multithreading, system software (POSIX), SIMD, or GPU programming (CUDA/OpenCL) is a plus

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical software engineering experience
