Maintenance Technician I

Overview:

Assist with basic maintenance duties in a foundry/manufacturing environment. This is an entry-level position intended for individuals who are mechanically inclined and eager to learn. Work is performed under close supervision with support from higher-level technicians.

Essential Functions:


  • Support Maintenance Technicians II and III with repairs and projects as needed.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubricating, tightening, and replacing minor components under supervision.
  • Assist with equipment inspections and preventative maintenance routines.
  • Learn to identify and report safety issues related to equipment and work areas.
  • Help with setting up and breaking down work areas safely.
  • Develop skills in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems through hands-on experience and formal/informal training.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Complete assigned tasks accurately and document work as instructed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance tools, parts, and work areas.
  • Participate in on-the-job training, safety meetings, and other development opportunities.



Minimum Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and desire to learn maintenance skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to work in physically demanding and industrial environments.
  • Valid Driver's License preferred.
  • No previous maintenance experience required, but any technical or trade-related experience is a plus.


Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:


  • Travel - less than 1%
  • Working hours - 1st or 2nd shift; may include occasional overtime or non-standard hours.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., work at heights, and in confined spaces with supervision.
  • Exposure to heat, dust, noise, and chemical fumes-appropriate PPE will be provided and must be worn.
  • May work indoors or outdoors in varying environmental conditions.



Forklift; scaffolding; measuring and testing instruments; hand tools; welding equipment; pipe cutting and threading machine; grinders; electric and pneumatic tools and calculator.

Some process areas are not temperature controlled. Open work areas are subject to outside climatic conditions. Exposure to dusts and chemical fumes requires use of appropriate PPE.
