Job Details:
The Mercer University Sports Medicine department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of assistant athletic trainer with a primary sport assignment of Men's Lacrosse.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing, athlete centered, evidenced based, comprehensive health care for student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics. This position will work in conjunction with a variety of approved healthcare providers. Individual will coordinate athletic training services working with coaches, strength and conditioning, academics, and administration. Must comply with HIPAA regulations, University policy, and NCAA compliance. In addition will adhere to the values and beliefs of Mercer University, the National Athletic Trainers' Association Code of Ethics, the BOC Standards of Professional Practice, and the regulations set forth by the state of Georgia.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited college/university is required along with some prior experience in an athletic training program. Candidates must have NATOBC certification and have (or be eligible for) Georgia Licensure for Athletic Training. Candidates with a master's degree in athletic training or a related field are desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Examination, assessment, and diagnosis of injury/illness to determine appropriate course of action
  • Ability to communicate with diverse population
  • Able to implement rehabilitation protocols and use therapeutic modalities and exercise to provide accommodation in sport related injury/illness
  • Assess readiness for safe return to play
  • Coordinate medical appointments and mange athletic training facility.


Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier as this position requires travel.
