Who we are and what we do:

The Bureau of Operations, Strategy, and Engagement is tasked with supporting agency wide operations. The Division of Business IT Solutions supports the Department through enterprise IT Portfolio Management, data management, content management support, and strategic enterprise level IT guidance to effectively enable agency and division specific missions.

How you make a difference in this role:

The GIS Program Manager will lead the departments ongoing efforts to expand and improve GIS related functions through strategic engagements with the Environment & Conservation staff, Department of Finance and Administrations Strategic Technology Solutions, and Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) as the technology vendor.

Job Overview:

This position will assist the Director of BITS in expanding the divisions support capabilities regarding the Departments strategic and operational GIS work. These capability enhancements will also require this role to collaboratively develop internal standards, organizational structure, and communication strategies for related efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement TDECs enterprise GIS strategy, organizational structure, and support services.
  • Oversee administrative management efforts of the departments implementation of ESRI GIS products and services, including budgeting, licensing, and procurement.
  • Support GIS initiatives for program areas in need of GIS expertise.
  • Engage TDEC Leadership and GIS users regarding relevant technical advisement and training opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Eligible candidates will hold a bachelor's degree or greater in GIS or related fields and have seven years of full-time professional GIS experience.
  2. The preferred candidate will possess an ability to apply strategic thinking, effective communication, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  3. The ideal candidate will understand and/or learn the technical and business needs for the widely diverse department.
