Overall Description of Responsibility or Nature of Work The BIOElectrics lab, a translational neuroscience research group led by Dr. Cristin Welle, is seeking a highly motivated research assistant to join our team. Our group investigates neuroelectronic interfaces, and this project focuses on the effect of vagus nerve stimulation on motor learning, cortical plasticity and rehabilitation. Our approach combines chronic VNS with optogenetics, in vivo two-photon imaging, electrophysiology and skilled motor tasks in the mouse model system. We are seeking creative neuroscientist or neural engineer with a background in motor control, systems neuroscience, imaging or related fields. Prior experience with any of the following is desired (but not required): animal models, survival surgery, programming, designing and implementing closed-loop systems and in vivo imaging. The BIOElectrics lab is a creative, collaborative lab with a focus on support and career development. This position has a competitive starting salary and great mountain views at the new Anschutz Medical Center in Denver. https://www.bioelectricslab.com Areas of Responsibility / Scope of Research The research assistant will be responsible for behavioral training in the rodent model, data analysis, and assisting in experiments using in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, closed-loop optogenetic or electrical stimulation in behaving animals. This includes working as part of team, following established protocols, and may include experimental planning, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and conference presentations Key Responsibilities / Duties
