NYL Investors LLC was formed in October 2013 as a wholly owned subsidiary of New York Life Insurance Company with the primary responsibility for managing the fixed income and real estate assets of New York Life and other strategic partners. With over 300 professionals, the organization manages over $300 billion of assets under management, through three investment groups.

Intermediate level position in which the Settlements Associate will carry out assignments independently using discretion and judgment to determine the appropriate course of action with minimal supervision. The responsibilities for this position includes, settlement coordination of Public, Private, and Bank Loan trades, creating wire requests (Private, Bank Loan, and OCIO) confirming trade details, providing trade allocations, investigating and reconciling all trade activity pre/post settlement date (e.g. maintaining counterparty contact lists, bank system access, maintaining internal and external settlement instructions, SPO charge calculations, tracking TMPG claims, and processing TBA pair offs and allocations), working with counterparties to rectify trade discrepancies prior to settlement, researching trade fails and providing details to management, liaising with the Desk, Treasury, Custodian Banks, and Agent Banks.

What You'll Do:

  • Confirm trade details, provide trade allocations, and work with Trading Desk and Counterparties to rectify any trade discrepancies.
  • Reconcile all trade activity pre/post settlement date
  • Create outgoing wire requests for Private and OCIO teams.
  • Liaise with the Traders, Treasury, and Custodian Banks on all settlement matters.
  • Analyze and resolve exceptions, reconciliation differences, and issues.
  • Learn and maintain a working knowledge of all functions performed by the group to provide back up as necessary.
  • Develop and update detailed functional procedures.
  • Develop and present ideas for procedural changes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and/or improve controls.
  • Assist with testing plans and document results.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required: BA/BS in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 - 4 years of experience in settlement operations, trade support, or middle office functions preferably within an insurance company, investment manager, asset management firm, or financial services institution.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and with external counterparties.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP), Word, and Outlook; experience with trade settlement systems (e.g., DTCC, SWIFT, Aladdin, or similar platforms) is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to troubleshoot and resolve reconciliation discrepancies efficiently.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines with accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being capable of working independently.
  • Familiarity with financial instruments including fixed income, equities, mutual funds, and alternative investments is a plus.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:$75,000 - $85,000

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
