Join the Strategic Planning and Architecture(SPARC) team within Microsoft's Azure Hardware Systems and Infrastructure (AHSI) organization, the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission.Microsoft delivers more than 200 online services to more than one billion individuals worldwide, and AHSI is the team behind our expanding cloud infrastructure. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's cloud businesses including Microsoft Azure, Bing, MSN, Office 365, OneDrive, Skype, Teams and Xbox Live. The SPARC organization manages Azure's hardware roadmap from architecture concept through production for all of Microsoft's current and future on-line services. We are looking for a Principal Firmware Engineer to join our team!
ResponsibilitiesInvolved in all phases of product development, ensuring seamless integration from concept to deploymentParticipate in silicon design, collaborating closely with hardware teams to define firmware requirementsDrive firmware architecture and design, setting foundational patterns and best practices for the development teamSupport manufacturing efforts, enabling smooth bring-up and validation of hardware platformsLead productization, ensuring the firmware is robust, reliable, and ready for mass productionLead driver and firmware architecture/design for accelerator chips, focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainabilityContribute to firmware development at all levels of the stack, from low-level hardware interaction to driver integrationDesign and implement driver interfaces, enabling communication between hardware and higher-level software componentsDevelop power-on and initialization routines for silicon bring-up and early boot scenariosImplement and optimize protocols and feature support for low-level hardware capabilities
