As part of a hardworking team of inspectors and engineers a Quality Inspector III is responsible for effective verification of manufactured or supplied product or processes against requirements. The Quality Inspector III is highly skilled at programming and operating a CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine), as well as effectively utilizing all standard measurement devices in receiving inspection. The QI applies methods and follows documentation requirements for product or process verification from established baselines including customer quality and Blue Origins quality standards. The position has responsibility for providing inputs for certification data packages, and contract quality data. The QI contributes to the analysis of process and product defect data, including root-cause, in support of the development of corrective and preventive action, and continual improvement planning. Other activities include support roles during internal and customer quality system and other quality audits.

Education beyond the secondary school level, background, or experience in a technical discipline, is required to successfully execute against the roles and responsibilities of this position. Professional training and development in progressive quality disciplines and systems is expected.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Programming and operation of CMM as a subject matter expert
  • Dimensional inspection of high precision parts and evaluation of those parts to specification requirements
  • Verification of quality documentation, certificates of conformance, and inspection records
  • Generation of dimensional and workmanship inspection reports
  • In-process quality, workmanship, and step verification approval of sub-assemblies following manufacturing standards
  • Review of product compliance to drawing, build, and inspection requirements
  • Collaboration with quality and design engineers on non-conforming material documentation and continuous process improvement methods
  • Documentation and disposition of non-conformances
  • Completes any individual tasks autonomously
  • Capable of acting as a team lead on small projects
  • Leads inspection method reviews within the department
  • Assists with the improvement and documentation of processes within the department

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in PCDMIS with Hexagon Level 300 CMM competency. Ability to program, debug, and operate a CMM autonomously.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Quality Inspector role in receiving inspection evaluating high precision / multi-requirement parts
  • In depth Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge
  • Experience with various types of inspection equipment such as digital measurement devices, optical comparitors, and hand gages
  • Experience with MIL, SAE, and other industry specifications/standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Quality Inspector role in the aerospace industry

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $32.57-$45.60
