- Serves to support orientation, competency programs, in-service education, continuing education, academic partnerships, career development and role transition at the Unit level for Mercy coworkers.
- Oversees, precepts and/mentors newer educators and presents, evaluates and builds evidence-based education for ministry wide standardized education strategies at the unit level.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Experience: If bachelor's degree is the highest level of degree attained, 10 years' teaching experience is required.
- If master's degree has been attained, 3 years' teaching experience is required.
- License: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Certification: AHA BLS provider
- Specialty certification
- Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Deep understanding of nursing practice, including medical-surgical nursing, critical care, pediatric care, maternal-child health, mental health, and other specialty areas.
- Ability to convey complex medical concepts clearly and understandably.
- Effective in both verbal and written communication, including conflict resolution, negotiation, problem-solving, and providing clear feedback.
- Proficiency in adult teaching strategies and education tools/methods (virtual/in-person) that develop and enhance critical thinking skills (e.g., mock events, simulation, writing case scenarios).
- Ability to develop and maintain onboarding and competency curriculum incorporating evidence-based practices, the Nursing Professional Practice Model, and Patient Experience initiatives.
- Strong leadership abilities to lead or participate in teams tasked with building standardized education efforts.
- Ability to create a climate conducive to learning by fostering good relationships with learners in a diverse environment.
- Competency in unit-specific nursing skills and technology programs, including EMR, Microsoft Office, scheduling platforms, learning management systems, and AV equipment.
- Proven ability to organize and multitask to meet project deadlines.
- Coordination of scheduling for new hires and maintaining education records
- Functioning as a consultant, identifying and influencing organizational decisions through service on councils, committees, and other relevant groups.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with evolving best practices.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to align with literacy levels, cultural diversity, and learning styles.
- Use of clinical reasoning to provide safe, quality nursing care based on the best available evidence and ethical principles.
- Preferred Qualifications: Education: Master's degree in Nursing
- Certifications: Additional life support certifications as required by specialty (ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, TNCC and/or ENPC)
