Summary:
The Hershey Company Y&S Lancaster plant is a Non-Union plant producing Licorice Products such as Twizzlers, Nibs, Jolly Rancher Ropes, and Pull & Peel, in a high-speed complex environment.
The Supervisor Labor Scheduling & Training is responsible for establishing and communicating processes, positions, training criteria and guidelines currently embedded throughout the organization.
- Manages ongoing labor management and scheduling, training, and SOPs (i.e. Process Operating guides, Step-up cards, and Work instructions).
- Directs and manages the activities of hourly production personnel while safely and effectively serving the needs of the production areas of the plant.
- Complies with regulatory requirements, company and plant policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Manage daily, weekly and OT labor scheduling for a 3-shift operation
- Manages team and workload in accordance with annual budget
- Manages annual Vacation scheduling process
- Responsible for scheduling the daily lineups
- Manage and coordinate daily and weekly overtime processes
- Plan and manage restricted labor in accordance with plant policies
- Plans for upcoming weekly staffing requirements based on Corporate's shift level demand
- Manage the internal job posting process
- Partner with OHN and HR to ensure tracking and compliance with FMLA and ADA guidelines
Manage the plant training and certification processes
- Manage the hourly EE job training and certification processes within annual budget
- Lead Plant Learning & Development Pillar
- Support new hire onboarding, orientation, and assessment processes
Own the creation and updating of the plants Standard Operating Procedures
- Ensure SOPs are updated and accurately reflect the correct processes and procedures
- Oversee the annual review process of all SOPs in accordance with company policy
Serve as the plant owner for temporary workforce relationship
- Collaborate with contingent agency for temporary workforce needs
- Manage the temporary workforce orientation and training
Serve as the plant owner for Part-time worker relationship
- Communicate and schedule each part-time employee 2 weeks in advance
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
- Knowledge of production systems
- Managerial ability (communication, delegation, motivation, engagement, etc.)
- Process oriented
- Ability to think critically and solve problems
- Decisive and able to work with ambiguity
- Knowledge of product quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work with and relate to all levels of personnel
- Ability to read/interpret production performance reports
- Experience in manufacturing supervision
- Proficient in the use of SAP, Excel and PowerPoint preferred
- Experience with labor scheduling processes preferred
- In depth knowledge of Lancaster plant labor requirements, is a plus
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school education or equivalent
- B.A./B.S. Business Management or equivalent combination of formal supervisory training and experience preferred
- Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role with direct reports
