Job Title: Durable Medical Equipment Coordinator

Job Summary:



This position is responsible for providing accurate and complete data for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) precertification and preauthorization requests, and to provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Gather necessary paperwork to facilitate billing while following necessary compliance and regulatory processes
  • Education of MA's and ATC's in the proper policies and procedures
  • Education of MA's and ATC's in the proper measuring and fitting of braces
  • Responsible for proper on-site patient fitting and patient education of all durable medical equipment at the Inverness location
  • Assist staff and physicians in problem solving in regards to type of brace and fitting that best suits the patient and their situation
  • Assist patient with direction to resolve billing problems
  • Coordinates with prior authorization specialist to inform patient's about DME benefits



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at the Steadman Hawkins Inverness UCHealth clinic.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • A bachelor's degree in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • 1 year of professional level experience in healthcare administration and insurance pre-authorization.

    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • One to three years of experience in a fast-paced outpatient clinic setting
  • Experience with medical service coding
  • Experience with medical terminology
  • One to three years of experience in prior authorizations particularly in DME or rehabilitation preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in electronic medical record utilization

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $61,546 - $78,286

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
