Job Description
Position Overview: Responsible for operation and proficient understanding of blow molding machinery, ovens and all downstream machinery and equipment and overall flow of production. Operation of production machines involves performing short-cycle, repetitive, and control operations of equipment, while maintaining set patterns of products to attain high-quality output that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately records production. Communicates production information at shift change. Knows and practices safe and proper start-up and shut-down procedures for each machine. Performs minor adjustments to machinery to ensure continued machine operation. Operates, enters and maintains production process on blow mold machines and supporting equipment for start-up and corrects production process during production to ensure quality specifications are met. Visually inspects raw materials and finished bottle quality for defects. Has authority to stop machines/production for quality and machine concerns and communicates issues to Production Coordinator and/or Maintenance. Forklift operator certified. Monitors production flow and preform level in hoppers, loads and dumps performs as needed to keep production running. Performs quality control testing using appropriate measuring devices and submits data into SPC program. Cleans and/or sanitizes blow molder during changeovers - inside, outside and under. Follows end-of-run procedures - completes profile sheet, empty/clean hoppers, and removal of all previous run performs and bottles from blow molders. Follows and maintains company GMP / HACCP / Product Safety standards and completes housekeeping requirements in work areas. Completes required documentation accurately and timely. Securely uses company computer system for preform consumption, quality test entries and scrap processing. Reporting daily production scrap in computer program. Actively participates in Quality training and Good Manufacturing Practice to assist in continuous improvement of plant operations. Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook and as trained during the various safety-related training programs. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and managers/supervisors. Properly uses all personal protective equipment. Performs other related duties as directed by the Production Coordinators and/or Management.
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Some post-secondary education preferred (i.e., Technical or Vocational education;). Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Other Requirements:
Able to pass forklift skills test. Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values and accurate data entry of the information into an on-line database. A strong mathematical ability is essential. Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other product defects. Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand. Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software. Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.
