NATURE AND SCOPE
Reports to the Director, Security & Fraud. Reviews and analyzes accounts and customer situations daily for activity that may require specialized resolution. Uses fraud detection systems to review fraud alerts for potentially fraudulent activity. Collects and reviews suspicious checks and takes steps to escalate for investigation. Assists in fraud detection and mitigation in other delivery channels including, but not limited to, Check Deposits, ATM/ITM Deposits, Digital Banking, Wire and ACH transactions. Response may include applying account restrictions, resolving account restrictions, contacting members, and working with other internal departments. Assists with fraud support questions from members & associates.
REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
2. Minimum three years financial industry experience or with fraud system applications.
3. Experience or ability to gain proficiency in all programs and systems used for this job.
4. Proficiency in dealing with customer issues in both a routine and complex environment.
5. Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
7. Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to this position. Must understand and comply with all job-related State and federal laws and regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Uses fraud monitoring systems to review daily alerts for potentially fraudulent activity and begin exploration to confirm fraud.
2. Creates cases in case management system, completes the initial data gathering and escalates to investigator if needed.
3. Takes steps to mitigate loss & risk to accounts with activity involving, but not limited to, fraudulent check deposits, ACH transactions, online-banking activity, wire transactions.
4. Assists with account status and restrictions updates as necessary upon detecting suspicious activity, and reinstates member account access once fraudulent concerns or activities have resolved.
5. Responds to calls, emails, and other correspondence to answer questions involving fraud or suspicious activity.
6. Review and process daily returned counterfeit checks and blocked mobile deposit items. Responsible for initial communication to inform the member of the counterfeit check.
7. Reviews daily ATM deposit reports for suspicious activity and escalates if needed.
