Job Summary

The Trauma Prevention Program Manager position manages all aspects of the UC Davis Health Injury and Violence Prevention Program (also known as the Trauma Prevention Program) with the mission to identify, prevent, and reduce the leading causes of death and injury within the UC Davis Health trauma center catchment area.

The Trauma Prevention Program Manager applies advanced injury prevention public health strategies, program management concepts, grant management, and community coalition building expertise to design, conduct, manage, and evaluate injury prevention educational and development programs in partnership with state and local agencies, organizations, and services.

The incumbent works closely with the Trauma Program Manager (TPM) to ensure Injury and Violence Prevention Program education strategies meet American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) injury prevention verification requirements for Level I Adult and Level I Pediatric trauma centers.

The Trauma Prevention Program Manager supervises the Trauma Prevention Program team in injury and violence prevention efforts in the hospital and community setting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • A Matter of Balance Master Trainer Certification
  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor and Lead Instructor Certification
  • Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Healthcare Needs Technician and Instructor Certification
  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • Bachelor's degree in related area, or equivalent experience/training
  • Minimum 5 years' experience developing, implementing, and evaluating hospital-based injury prevention programs.
  • Experience in applying the public health concepts of injury prevention, or equivalent training
  • Experience preparing a hospital-based injury prevention program for the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) trauma center verification and review process.
  • Extensive professional knowledge of developing curriculum, coordinating trainings and implementing evidence-based community education programs for injury prevention, or equivalent formal training
  • Extensive professional knowledge of public health strategies for implementing injury prevention initiatives, or equivalent formal training
  • Knowledge of American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) trauma center verification process and standards.
  • Skills to maintain effective professional relationships with department managers as well as external partners and instructors.
  • Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly effective management skills, including strong skills in directing and developing staff members.

  • Experience in leading or supervising a team

UC Davis Health Injury and Violence Prevention Program within the UC Davis Medical Center Patient Care Services department, is responsible for fulfilling injury prevention requirements for American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) verification for Level I Pediatric and Level I Adult trauma centers. The mission of the Trauma Prevention Program is to prevent and reduce the leading causes of injury within the UCDH trauma center catchment area through education and outreach.
