Internship - Test and Measurement (Co-Op)

ASML US, LLC
United States, California, San Diego
17075 Thornmint Ct (Show on map)

Introduction

ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world's leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices inChandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

The Test and Measurement Facilities (TMF) group aims to mitigate risks by testing hardware early in the design process. The strategy of TMF is to isolate failure mechanism and simulate environments on generic test equipment to quantify the risk. The TMF team is comprised of multi-discipline test engineers and architects who work in TMF owned and operated labs, with full control over the equipment and the work done in the labs.

Role and Responsibilities

The Test and Measurement internship is a hands-on opportunity to work in a lab environment supporting experimentation and analysis by using a variety of materials characterization techniques. You will work closely with our test and measurement facilities team to own a specific test or project in support of our EUV technology.

This role will be on-site in San Diego and is for a fall co-op.

This internship will be expected to:

  • Perform hands-on lab work in a team environment.
  • Work with team to troubleshoot install of new scientific equipment.
  • Design and execute testing plans.
  • Work closely with cross-functional groups to qualify materials, perform life time testing, and improve performance of EUV source components.
  • Validates concepts through experiments.
  • Collaboratively investigates scientific and technical problems and challenges; evaluates and recommends solutions.
  • Have a strong affinity for planning ahead and working safely in a laboratory environment.
  • Build and operate vacuum & thermal test setup for different project and modules.
  • Documents work results.
  • You will have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.
  • Work in a team environment alongside local experienced engineers.
  • Analyze manufacturing, performance, and reliability data from labs and field.
  • The goal of the internship is for you to learn about working in a corporate setting and to provide your knowledge in solving real world problems in a team environment.
  • Intern will be required to document and present their findings as well as make an end of summer presentation to the group about what they achieved during their internship.
