Winston-Salem State University (
WSSU) is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and collaborative Project Manager for Campus Life to support the development and implementation of strategic student engagement initiatives. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing programs that foster student involvement, enhance campus culture, and promote holistic student development.
Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, Experience, and Strategic Priorities, the Project Manager will lead and coordinate complex, student-centered projects across the Division of Student Affairs and in collaboration with campus-wide partners. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and committed to creating experiences that support student belonging, wellness, leadership development, and overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management and Strategic Initiatives
- Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of strategic projects aligned with Campus Life and institutional goals.
- Develop and manage project scopes, timelines, deliverables, and milestones using established project management tools and best practices.
- Monitor progress and mitigate risks to ensure timely and effective project completion.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Director and campus stakeholders for assigned initiatives.
Campus Life and Student Engagement
- Design and implement programs that promote campus spirit, student involvement, and inclusive engagement opportunities.
- Collaborate with departments across the Division of Student Affairs and other university offices to support integrated and high-impact student experiences.
- Utilize data and assessment tools to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement efforts.
Communications and Marketing Collaboration
- Assist in the development and implementation of marketing and branding strategies for student programs and initiatives.
- Partner with the Communications Team to ensure consistent and engaging messaging across platforms.
- Support the creation of content for websites, newsletters, and social media channels to enhance awareness of student opportunities.
Stakeholder Engagement and Cross-Campus Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong relationships with academic departments, student organizations, faculty, and staff.
- Serve on committees and working groups that support student success, leadership development, and community engagement.
- Provide leadership in the coordination of signature events including Welcome Week, RamFest, Homecoming, and Student Awards Ceremonies.
Assessment, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to student engagement, satisfaction, learning outcomes, and program effectiveness.
- Prepare regular briefings and presentations for divisional and university leadership.
- Maintain thorough project documentation and contribute to the development of best practices and post-project reviews.
