SUMMARY

The Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist is a licensed pharmacist who is responsible for applying knowledge, skill, competence, and clinical expertise in our antibiotic surveillance program. The clinical pharmacist will work with the ID team on antibiotic surveillance and other initiatives to provide safe and cost-effective use of antimicrobials. The roles of this clinical pharmacist are those of advanced practitioner, educator, consultant, leader, and researcher.

The Clinical Pharmacist applies his/her knowledge of, and clinical training in, pharmacotherapy to directly influence and impact physician prescribing to improve the use of medications throughout the Health System and to enhance positive drug therapy outcomes.

Other functions include precepting pharmacy PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents and doctoral-level pharmacy students, participating in staff development, and creating opportunities for pharmacists to practice more clinically and promote rational and cost-effective use of medications at Grady Health System.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY-2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency (or five (5) years post PGY-1 residency experience)
  • Board Certification in Infectious Disease is preferred in pharmacy
  • Fully licensed as a Pharmacist in the State of Georgia or eligible for full licensure within 90 days through reciprocity or exam
