Department Summary

The University of North Texas, Murchison Performing Arts Center, is seeking a full-time employee to join our team. The Murchison Performing Arts Center (MPAC) is an institutional facility that primarily serves the College of Music but is also utilized by the broader campus community and the public.

Position Overview

The Event Support Coordinator will coordinate all events and box office operations occurring in the Murchison Performing Arts Center. The Event Coordinator reports to the Director of the MPAC, works in collaboration with lead lighting and audio technical directors, and oversees all front of house activities including the box office. This person acts as a point of contact between internal (faculty, staff and students) and external clients for all bookings and provides event coordination, box office support and front of house support for all events in the Winspear Performance Hall, the Lyric Theater, and select in the UNT College of Music, as requested and approved by the Director of the MPAC.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and two years of professional experience related to event planning; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Experienced professional with strong written and oral communication skills, event management expertise, and exceptional customer service.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and under supervision.
  • Skilled in building effective work relationships, operating in high-stress, people-focused environments, and maintaining safety protocols.
  • Proficient in computer use and flexible with on-call work, including nights and weekends.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with event coordination and front of house support as it relates to a performing arts venue.
  • Experience with box office operations ticketing, scheduling and operational support.


Job Duties:



  • Acts as Box Office Manager for MPAC and select COM events. Coordinates box office operations as related to cash handling, design of tickets, maintaining ticket stock, interfacing with technical service personnel (software vendor, College of Music IT, and the Office of University Integrity and Compliance) regarding computer/printer/network access and other issues so as to keep operations smooth. Prepares and delivers deposits of box office monies and other remuneration for the MPAC.
  • Software: Is the lead staff member on current event ticketing software, maintains all data and data integrity in accordance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI), and engages in annual training on these standards to ensure operating standards are current.
  • Keeps abreast of current practices in event ticketing, event coordination and front of house operations in the performing arts sector by attending training opportunities, researching websites, and attending benchmark events in other venues as approved by the Director of the MPAC.
  • Generates ticketing plans tailored to event needs to ensure all event details are correctly inputted in a timely fashion for a successful result.
  • Assists MPAC Director with Scheduling production meetings. When needed, schedules a production meeting with all necessary facility staff (lead lighting and audio technical directors, recording services) and the customer to ensure that all needs are covered completely.
  • Attends all production meetings with other facility staff and the customer, to ensure box office, and other related human capital needs are available. Ensures the events success by personally working events and/or oversee event student staff.
  • Event Coordination: Compiles, by actively seeking our answers and data from clients, all relevant information for upcoming events into a cohesive pre-production report, updates as needed until the event, ensures timely distribution of reports and updates to all relevant parties to ensure high level of execution for all events.
  • Assists MPAC Director with Drafting contracts for external customers, reflecting charges for services into a contract template and modifies the contract language as needed for UNT requirements. Assists in preparing invoices for the customer for payments due.
  • Hires, trains, schedules and actively supervises to the box office staff, ushers and front of house managers for all events in coordination with MPAC Director.
  • Building Security/Parking: In collaboration with MPAC Director and staff post-event, ensures all doors and assets are secure to eliminate risks. Assists with the implementation safety and emergency procedures and training sessions for all staff members including fire, shelter-in-place for inclement weather, active shooter protocol, and the safety manual. Be knowledgeable about location of fire extinguishers and AED. Requests security officers for events in a timely fashion and prepares and plans for parking issues that involve College of Music events in the MPAC.
  • Other duties as assigned by the MPAC Director.
  • Maintains appropriate level of ongoing communication with customers to ensure their needs have not changed since initial meeting. Conveys, in both written and oral communications, changes to lead lighting and audio technical directors and those impacted by changes in a timely manner to ensure human resources are available.
  • Assists Director as assigned to maintain and keep the MPAC master calendar up to date.

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm; Weekend & evenings as needed
