Position Summary: 2nd Shift Supervisor - 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervisory oversight in the Assembly, Repair Services, and IAS (Inventory Control) departments. A key responsibility of the position is to ensure the timely and efficient production and delivery of quality pumps and related products through direct, coordinated supervision, using lean manufacturing techniques. This individual will be responsible for the cost-effective utilization of employee and capital resources and operating a group of manufacturing departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Supervise production activity within Assembly, Repair Services, Hardware, and IAS to achieve daily safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity objectives.* Accountable for supervising department employees, including the overall direction, mentoring, and training. Accomplish objectives by communicating job expectations to employees, including planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. * Hold direct reports accountable for their performance, and coach employees to include initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. * Review specifications and procedures to organize methods and equipment to ensure accurate, on-time delivery of quality products. * Manage timecards, including points for direct reports, in a timely manner. * Work with Union Stewards and HR to ensure communication and employee issues are addressed. * Provide daily production reporting in a timely manner. * Conduct daily Tier Meetings with employees to review metrics and safety, as well as provide daily direction. * Conduct effective handoffs to supervisors on other shifts to ensure strong communication between shifts. * Notify IT and management of any IT downtimes in a timely manner. * Will work with and coordinate assigned activities with other departments, including Engineering, Sales, Customer Care, and Supply Chain.* Participate in the development and implementation of cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives. * Facilitate continuous improvement and 5S activities for assigned manufacturing departments. * Prepare reports and be prepared to discuss with management the status of departmental and/ or individual metrics, workload, and current projects. * Prepare detailed work instructions and other controlled documents per ISO standards. * Schedule the repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment as required. * Assist engineering in the development of new products and processes. * Maintain a qualified workforce at the proper level to meet production schedules.* Address safety concerns: ensure employees use prescribed safe work methods and utilize proper safety equipment. * Interface directly with other departments regarding problems and opportunities, finding methods to enhance quality and timely, efficient production and delivery. * Assist in setting standards, work methods, and processes. * Train employees and maintain training matrix. Lead 30- 60- 90-day reviews for new employees. * Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to covering other manufacturing cells as needed. Qualifications / Requirements: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required * 5+ years' experience supervising employees in a unionized manufacturing environment * Excellent Supervisory skills; must be able to plan, organize and schedule work among employees; prepare and evaluate department records and reports; communicate effectively with employees, management staff and all other departments, as necessary. * Experienced facilitator with proven track record in Lean/5S implementation. * Excellent computer skills, including Excel and PowerPoint. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Familiarity with working within an ISO regulated environment is preferred. * Ability to multitask and perform in a dynamic environment while maintaining a positive attitude and energy. * Strong team player, good work ethic and ability to be flexible and work within a collaborative team environment to meet production and company needs. * Must have the desire and ability to work in a participative style environment to meet goals and objectives Desired Characteristics:* Strong history of applying continuous improvement concepts and tools.* Strong analytical skills.* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
