Job Description

The Engineering Team Lead is a supervisory role that plans, organizes, and directs an engineering team to meet business objectives for solutions design and development. Responsible for assisting the Engineering Manager in reaching the overall revenue, gross margin, and net promoter targets for their assigned teams. You must oversee engineering resources as well as the on schedule, cost effective and high-quality delivery of engineering solutions. The Engineering Team Lead requires team resource planning skills such as assigning direct reports to projects, assessing staffing levels and utilization among other duties. This position manages all employees within their team and is responsible for the performance management, recruiting, and onboarding of those employees.

The time per annum is split approximately 30% on the management portion and 70% technical (billable). Perform DCS programming, troubleshooting and operational DCS support. In this role, you will design, define, implement, test and commission complex control system solutions for customers. You may also analyze existing systems, develop functional specifications, network architecture drawings, input/output assignments, and specify working parameters for loop-tuning or hardware/software compatibility. You will coordinate integration of subsystems into the primary control system, as well as identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies. You may also develop and recommend corrective actions as needed for robust and effective operation. You will report to the Engineering Manager.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Leads the direction of engineering development efforts, developing people resources, and managing financial plans and objectives for the resources assigned to them.
  • Work with the EM to identify and implement training/development assignments for employees.
  • Communicate regularly (weekly basis) with assigned employees on project assignment, assure they have the appropriate knowledge/tools, provide performance feedback, coaching and career goals.
  • Work with EM to plan effective use of non-billable time (training, internal projects) for assigned employees.
  • Responsible for maintaining billability budgets for resources and to coordinate resource sharing with peers.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain effective communication lines and working relationships with other operations units, customers, providers, leadership team and employees.
  • Configure, optimize & troubleshoot base and advanced process control schemes
  • Implement Third party interfaces (DCS to compressor, analyzer, etc.)
  • Support Continuous or Batch operation & commissioning
  • Drive adherence to approved processes around quality, testing and project delivery
  • Analyze existing systems, network architecture drawings, and hardware/software compatibility
  • Build input/output assignments, develop functional specifications, and specify working parameters for loop-tuning
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
  • The ability to travel 30% of the time
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • 5+ years experience in leading projects, talent leadership, and project engineering environment
  • Strong projects background in process automation
  • Prior management or leadership experience
  • PE, CAP, PMP - or the ability to obtain
