Optical Machining Technician

We are looking for an Optical Machining Technician to join Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis, the global leader in Raman spectroscopy, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), and quenched fluorescence (QF) instrumentation for laboratory, process, and manufacturing environments. Our laser-based analyzer systems perform high-performance chemical composition and concentration measurement of all phases of matter in any installation environment.

What is the role about?
The Optical Machining Technician is a key contributor ensuring the precision and quality of optical elements. This role involves operating specialized machinery to trim glass components, handling and cleaning optical elements, and performing detailed inspections to ensure compliance with stringent quality standards.

What will you do?

  • Operate precision glass trimming machinery and associated tooling.
  • Block and mount optical elements for trimming processes.
  • Unmount, deblock, clean, and inspect optical components.
  • Replace and maintain cutting tools, such as trimming wheels.
  • Perform dimensional inspections of in-process parts and pre-quality dimensional checks.
  • Handle and clean glass and optical elements with care and precision.
  • Conduct cosmetic and specification-based inspections throughout production process.
  • Proactively audit processes and products, collaborating with supervisors and engineers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness and perform routine maintenance on machines and associated peripherals.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of PPE.
  • Communication regularly with supervisors regarding production status and any issues encountered.

What do we expect from you?

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity and prior experience in machining or optical manufacturing is preferred, but comprehensive training will be provided for suitable candidates.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical skills.
  • Ability to apply 2-dimensional trigonometry in practical settings.
  • Proficiency in using trigonometry functions with a standard calculator.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and precision.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently as part of routine duties.
