The Analyst I/Government Affairs is responsible for supporting the coordination and implementation of all government affairs activities that could have an impact on the Corporation at the local, state, and federal levels. This position performs a wide variety of professional government affairs services and assists with advancing business strategies. This position is responsible for facilitating program changes in support of the Company's strategic plans. This position must maintain a positive corporate image in the community by developing and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, collaborating with management to meet the needs of the Company and community, and serving as a resource within the Company and the community while advocating on behalf of Southwest Gas and the natural gas industry.

The incumbent does not have accountability for people or budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are broad precedents and practices that the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how this job is performed. This position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job responsibilities. A clear understanding of the political process is critical to this position. Contacts throughout government are imperative for the incumbent's successful performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide analytical support for the administration of all government affairs programs and issues that affect Company operations

* Serve as an advocate for the Corporation before all local, state, and federal officials, both elected and appointed, to ensure equitable deliberations on government affairs issues that affect Company operations

* Assist in implementing government affairs programs to enhance the Company's relationships with all local, state, and federal government officials and agencies

* Assist in developing responses to all governmental and government affairs-related inquiries directed at the Corporation

* Keep abreast of all filings, enactments, rulemakings, public decisions, and other actions of regulatory commissions, federal, state, and local government agencies relating to all government affairs programs

* Assist in the development and management of Southwest Gas' political action committee program

* Assist in developing written company updates and briefings for allied organizations and industries

* Assist in the design, development and administration of the Company's government affairs outreach and collateral materials

* Represent the company at company-sponsored events

* Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned

* Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

SALARY DETAILS

Tucson: $57,180.50 - $80,032.75
