Job Description:
The Manager, Engineering will assist in planning and organizing the engineering team, ensuring the proper upkeep of electrical, mechanical, and physical facilities through sound engineering principles and technical skills. This role involves managing the Engineering team, driving root cause analysis, planning large downtimes, and providing guidance on prioritization for critical repairs and manning issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the Engineering team to drive root cause analysis and plan large downtimes.
• Work with the Manager, Maintenance to drive department vision and make strategic organizational changes.
• Conduct interviews for new engineering hires and internal promotions.
• Oversee new employee orientation and recommend/approve engineering training opportunities.
• Handle personnel issues in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.
• Ensure safety training, MIP's, and Near Misses are completed.
• Set annual goals and conduct quarterly reviews with direct reports.
• Manage and enforce department policies and procedures.
• Oversee department budget and project expenses.
• Review project proposals and award contracts to winning bidders.
• Approve equipment and software upgrades.
• Maintain relationships with engineering vendors and manage vendor price negotiations.
• Oversee plant utilities and substations, and review water treatment reports.
• Administer SAP, including adding/removing users.
• Coordinate Cold Repair planning and interface with GTC projects.

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related science field.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in a maintenance capacity.
• Proven leadership and administrative ability.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage long-term projects and process improvements.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to dust, moving vehicles, heavy equipment, chemicals, high noise, and extreme temperatures.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles and machinery, and work in confined spaces.
• Professional office environment with standard office equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Occasionally lift and carry items under 20 pounds.
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, and handle as needed.
• Maintain awareness of environmental hazards and respond to emergency situations.
