AMNH's Richard Gilder Graduate School's Master of Arts in Teaching Earth Science Residency Program (

ESRP) is seeking a part-time Adjunct Professor to co-teach
Foundations of Education in the Urban Context, a graduate-level course for urban science teachers. The Adjunct Professor will design and be the lead professor of the course. The Adjunct Professor will collaborate and co-teach with a member of the
MAT Museum faculty.
Foundations of Education in the Urban Context (
EDU 650) is a three-credit course with variable-length class sessions taught in the spring and summer at
AMNH. This course is designed for middle and high school Earth Science teachers in urban settings in New York State. Constitutional, historical, linguistic, religious and educational policy topics addressed in this course will help participants locate their own learning experiences and those of their students within the context of the multiple waves of public school reforms. This is a required course for the
MAT Program. It is designed to include 30 hours of onsite teaching at the Museum and 15 hours of application during the school-based residency.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Co-teach the Foundations of Education in the Urban Context course.
- Post the syllabus, course description and schedule to the online learning environment.
- Collect assignments.
- Assess with rubrics.
- Provide educational resources.
- Communicate with students.
- Submit grades.
The expected salary for the Adjunct Professor is $145/hour. This position is overtime-eligible.
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience. |
