BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Data Scientist Chicago Police Department Strategic Initiatives Division Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Under general supervision, positions allocated to this class perform specialized data engineering and analysis functions to develop data driven solutions for the use of informed, actionable, strategic decisions, and performs related duties as required. Michigan Ave, Chicago IL, 60653 Days: Monday through Friday Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Salary: $115,776 THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or Information Technology/Systems or a directly related field, plus three (3) years of experience in data analysis or data management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Disclaimer - "Accredited" means any nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or law school where the applicant is enrolled in or has completed an Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Juris Doctorate degree program. SELECTION REQUIREMENT: This position requires applicants to complete an interview which includes a skills assessment. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected for hire. Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
Residency Requirement: All employees of the City must be actual residents of the City as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City Chicago Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required. APPLICATION EVALUATION: Initial evaluation will be based on information provided on the application and the documents submitted. The Department of Human Resource staff will review applications after the final posting date. Staff will follow any and all required Employment/Hiring Plan provisions, federal, state and local laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements when applicable.
