SUMMARY

The Buyer/Planner II will be responsible for the purchasing, planning and inventory control in their assigned product lines. They will also serve as a mentor to buyer/planners on the team. The Buyer-Planner II must demonstrate a consistent ability to achieve OTD/ PD plant objectives and inventory levels, and to demonstrate a desire and skill necessary to mentor a specific group of, or individual buyer-planners. The Buyer-Planner II must have demonstrated the ability to consistently establish a history of meeting their own product line OTD and Past Due objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To continue to meet their own product line OTD and Past Due objectives plus:

  • Serve as the first level of escalation for issues in the product lines they are supporting and mentoring

  • Negotiate with suppliers using fact-based data and support the materials manager with executing long term supplier agreements

  • Collect, prepare and analyze market trends to develop strategic sourcing process

  • Assist in supplier negotiation efforts with their team such as setting up long term contracts and helping to align supplier commitments with production needs

  • Lead calls with key suppliers to ensure they will be able to meet site needs

  • Support sourcing of new parts in their areas and supports PPV (Purchase Price Variance)/VAVE (Value Analysis Value Engineering) efforts to meet site goals

  • Lead projects in their areas as designated by the Materials Manager or other management

  • Work to improve processes in their areas by making them more automated and efficient

  • Assists in initiatives to help align materials team with company goals

  • Be part of onboarding team for new associates along with Materials Manager, Master Planner, and other supply chain employees

  • Track KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) and other metrics and reviews results with Materials Manager

  • Ensure the LSW (Leader Standard Work) is being fully followed for the Product Line Buyer-Planners they are mentoring

  • Help to resolve logistic challenges and leads by example

  • Confer with suppliers concerning late deliveries

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Oracle experience or strong understanding of ERP systems

  • Strong lean manufacturing background (Kanban Management)

  • Team player, self-motivated

  • Results orientation

  • Understanding of inventory management

  • Passionate about application of continuous improvement tools

  • 2 years of related experience

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Materials, Supply Chain or Business Management or equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Four years of materials management experience as a Purchasing Agent, Planner/Scheduler, or Master Scheduler in a manufacturing environment

  • APICS or ISM (CPIM or CPM) certifications.

  • Has consistently established a history of meeting their own product line OTD and Past Due objectives

  • Experience in two or more product lines at Kollmorgen

Physical demands - required to be on the manufacturing floor and will include bending, sitting, and lifting up to 50lbs.
