Job Purpose

The Export Sales Department (ESD) Manager will lead the overall AHM Export sales and operations for finished vehicles. This pivotal role involves managing the Caribbean and Central America (CCA) Field Sales team for the Honda and Acura brands. The ESD Manager will support the CCA region's independent distributors in various aspects, including store locations, retail sales, supply, inventory management, brand representation, and customer sales satisfaction, to achieve AHM's auto retail sales objectives.

In addition to managing CCA region auto business, the ESD Manager is also responsibilities for coordinating with Honda Motor's regional sales teams in Japan and manage the Regional CBU sales and transfer pricing for all export of NA produced units to regions around the world. This role also include managing the CKD (Complete Knock Down) business that supports the production parts supply from NA to oversees Honda plants.

The ESD Manager will be instrumental in facilitating effective and efficient communication and coordination between Export Sales teams and supporting divisions within American Honda, HDMA, and Honda Motors. This role will ensure clear delineation of roles and responsibilities, as well as accountability, to achieve business plan objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage overall CCA region business, including:

    • Create overall CCA sales region strategy and long-range volume forecast (OB).
    • Work closely with CCA field staff and regional distributors to achieve monthly and annual CCA auto sales objectives (Seihan).
    • Understand the CCA regional market, including macro-economic, political, automotive industry factors, as well as segment/model, pricing strategies and distributor dynamics.


  • Oversee Regional Operations, including:

    • Manage the Regional Sales team, ensuring effective coordination and communication between the Regional Sales team and Honda Motors.
    • Manage the monthly and annual sales and production plans, as well as the ordering process for global regions to ensure accuracy (Seihan).
    • Review and approve quarterly price quotations created by Regional Sales team (Transfer Pricing).


  • Support monthly NA Seihan process by ensuring effective communications between Export, Seihan and Honda Motor teams.
  • Present monthly sales results with PDCA summary to executive management.
  • Oversee the CKD (Complete Knock Down) team, including:

    • Support the coordination of production parts from North America to Honda CBU factories for the global mass production of Honda/Acura products.
    • Efficiently manage the supply chain distribution, calculate parts pricing, audit documentation for compliance with US and international trade regulations and SOX requirements, and implement new export compliance regulations globally.


  • Facilitating effective and efficient communication and coordination between Export Sales teams and supporting divisions within American Honda, HDMA, and Honda Motors.
  • Fostering clear delineation of roles, responsibilities, and accountability to achieve business plan goals.
  • Provide coaching and development to associates to ensure the achievement of goals, while also supporting the technical and professional growth plans for direct reports.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required
  • Equivalent work experience may also be considered
  • Minimum 10-15 years of professional experience in Sales, Planning, and/or Operations, including leadership roles
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in supply chain planning and/or operations, preferably in the automotive industry
  • 5-10 years of management experience with a proven track record of effective management, cross organizational collaboration and cost center responsibility
  • Strong communication skills: Effective verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively coordinate with various stakeholders and confidently present monthly sales results.
  • Strong business acumen: A deep understanding of business operations, market trends, and economic factors affecting the automotive industry in various regions.
  • Relationship building: Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationship with independent distributors, vendors, and internal teams is critical for this role.
  • Persuasive skills: Ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external teams to achieve sales targets and business goals.
  • Foreign language proficiency: Knowledge of a foreign language, such as Spanish or Japanese, and understand of various cultures is a plus as it can facilitate better communications with international teams.
