About the role We are looking for a Senior Product Manager focused on Developer Experience. In this role, you will be responsible for how developers discover, evaluate, and integrate with our APIs across both ShipStation API and ShipEngine Connect. You will lead the strategy to create an excellent developer journey, from onboarding and documentation to tooling and technical support. Your work will empower partners and merchants to integrate quickly and scale successfully. This position is hybrid (3 days per week in office) and is located in Austin, Texas. Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel required for conferences or team planning sessions. About the team You will join the API Product team at Auctane. This team is focused on delivering powerful APIs used by thousands of developers around the world. Our work spans across ShipStation, Connect and Endicia APIs. We prioritize scalability, ease of use, and extensibility. You will work closely with engineering, product design, technical writing, customer support, and partnerships. What will you be doing?
- Own the full developer experience for our APIs, from onboarding to post-integration success
- Lead strategy for developer-facing assets including documentation, guides, SDKs, and setup flows
- Partner with engineering, support, and partnerships to streamline the process for resolving integration issues
- Define metrics that reflect developer success and use those to guide improvements
- Collaborate with technical writers to create and maintain clear and helpful documentation
- Drive self-service improvements that reduce friction and increase confidence for new developers
- Serve as an advocate for developers across the company
- Identify gaps in the current experience and prioritize improvements that make integration faster and more reliable
What are we looking for?
- At least 3 years of experience in product management, with a focus on APIs or developer tools
- Familiarity with REST APIs, authentication flows, webhooks, and the full integration lifecycle
- A track record of improving developer-facing documentation, tooling, or onboarding
- Comfort working across teams and with technical stakeholders
- A data-driven approach with the ability to define success metrics and drive adoption
- Strong communication skills, especially when working with technical content
What will make you stand out?
- Experience managing a developer portal or creating a documentation system from scratch
- Previous work with ecommerce platforms, logistics tools, or warehouse integrations
- Demonstrated success launching APIs or SDKs used by external developers
- Deep empathy for the developer journey and a clear vision for what great looks like
- A technical background or experience working closely with engineering teams
