About the Role:
Waste Connections is hiring an energetic and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team in Elkhart, IN. This role offers strong growth potential and is designed to prepare you for a promotion into a District Controller position at one of our national locations.

Key Responsibilities:
As Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting and finance functions, including:

• Managing the monthly financial close process and preparing financial statements.

• Performing general ledger reconciliation across multiple locations.

• Creating monthly variance analyses comparing actuals vs. budget and forecast.

• Preparing rolling three-month financial forecasts.

• Conducting rate and pricing analysis.

• Communicating financial insights to operational and management teams.

• Ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control documentation.

• Participating in the annual budget planning process.

• Training non-financial staff on financial procedures and reporting.

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
We're seeking candidates who have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (required).

• 2+ years of prior experience in corporate or public accounting (preferred). Recent grads are encouraged to apply

• CPA certification or CPA candidacy (a strong plus).

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
