Moog Military Aircraft has an immediate opening for a Senior Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer to plan, organize and conduct team-based improvement & process variation reduction activities to develop solutions for complex problems. In this role, you will need to build strategic working relationships at all levels in the organization, from site-level management to front line operators. You will need to strike a balance between leading, active participation & coaching to develop and implement solutions and establish a lean, problem-solving culture. Reporting to the Operational Excellence (OPEX) Manager, you will have a 9/80 schedule and work on-site in Torrance, CA.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degree: preferred disciplines are Industrial / Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum 5+ years of working experience in Lean Manufacturing based activities

  • Lean certified with a strong understanding of Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, A3 Problem Solving, Visual Management, Flow, Kanban, etc.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing industry

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

It'd be great if you also had:

  • Experience in the aerospace or other highly regulated industry

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified

  • Project Management certified

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, SQL Server

As a Senior Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will:

  • Optimize manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing Lean principles to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Bring years of experience leading and coaching cross-functional kaizen teams on lean manufacturing principles to come up with innovative and creative solutions to improve the business.

  • Lead value stream mapping and kaizen events to identify bottlenecks and areas of improvement in the Fabrication, Assembly, and non-manufacturing production processes.

  • Promote daily kaizen opportunities to foster a continuous improvement mindset and help establish a lean, problem-solving culture throughout Moog.

  • Design a lean layout creating an efficient and optimized floor plan for the manufacturing processes. The engineer will analyze the current layout, identify areas for improvement to implement more streamlined processes usinglean principles such as flow and standard work

  • Take initiative to identify and lead key process improvement projects.

  • Use critical thinking & problem-solving tools, such as A3 or other RCCA methodologies, to lead projects impacting strategic objectives. Additionally, will support cross functional strategic teams focused on reducing inventory, improving On Time Delivery (OTD), and reducing defects.

  • Provide Lean training and coaching on lean manufacturing tools such as Waste Reduction, Standard Work, Setup reduction (SMED), Continuous Flow and Pull Systems.

  • Conduct well-organized, effective, and friendly kaizen events and project meetings to facilitate collaborative problem-solving and process improvement.

  • Manage various projects from start to finish and be able to provide updates to the leadership team.

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $100,000.00-$140,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
