We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead our tax team, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations related to our hospitality operations. The Tax Manager will oversee a team of tax analysts responsible for preparing sales and use, and occupancy tax returns for our portfolio of hotels, as well as managing the tax licensing process for newly onboarded properties. This role also oversees tax audits, as well as developing and training the tax team.

Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Manage Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and timely filing of sales and use, occupancy, and other related tax returns for all hotel properties.
  • Team Leadership: Train, develop, and mentor a team of tax analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Issue Resolution: Serve as the escalation point for high-level tax issues and inquiries, providing solutions and guidance.
  • Audit Management: Lead and manage tax audits, ensuring accurate and compliant responses to tax authorities.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance tax processes to ensure efficiency, compliance, and accuracy.
  • Tax License Management: Ensure new hotel properties obtain the necessary tax licenses, including overseeing the setup process.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in tax management, with a focus on sales and use, and occupancy, in the hospitality industry or a similar field.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with tax audits and working with external tax preparers.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in tax and accounting software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and, most particularly, Excel advanced skills required
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
