Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Business Development Director for our Corporate Lakeville, Minnesota Branch. This is a remote position that can be located in: AL, FL, IL, IN, IA, KY, MD, MN, MO, NE, NV, PA, SC, TX, and WI, CA, GA, LA, MA, MI, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, OH, TN, VA.

Job Summary:

The Business Development Director will analyze market trends and the performance of Midwest's sales team to determine necessary adjustments to increase customer engagement and Midwest profitability. The position will collaborate with internal Midwest departments and vendor partners to create action plans and provide strategic communication to the sales team to maximize growth initiatives - including new customer acquisition, vendor rebate attainment and market share optimization.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Build and develop vendor relationships to grow Midwest profitability through negotiating support funds, rebates and strategic account offerings. Analyze ROI of Midwest activities to ensure alignment with partners' needs and goals. Frequently communicate ROI of resources invested to vendor partners.
  • Develop and implement effective sales plans to achieve company goals and maximize vendor rebate attainment. Collaborate with sales and marketing management teams to implement SPIFFs and regional focuses, when necessary, to increase market share and rebate attainment.
  • Work closely with Midwest Marketing, Purchasing, Operations and Pricing departments to ensure alignment of sales activities and goals. Provide focused communication and updates to the sales team on goals, rebate attainment, overall strategy, and marketing initiatives.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor strategies to identify new opportunities, improve market position and refine business strategies. Research new services, solutions and offerings to increase customer acquisition and retention. Communicate results of analysis to Purchasing, Sales and Marketing management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Demonstrated ability in business-to-business (B2B) sales
  • Experience in veterinary distribution preferred
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in evaluating market share, analyzing data, and communicating findings to stakeholders is required
  • Problem-solving skills to propose mutually beneficial solutions
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong project management and customer service skills

Equipment Used:

Regularly uses typical office equipment including computer keyboard and terminal, telephone and printer

Work Environment:

Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday. Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required. Travel to attend meetings, conferences and industry events will be required.
