Hyundai's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for an Engineer II for the Chassis Team

The Team:

NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group's North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations.

The Position:

The Chassis Engineer II would focus on the continuous development and enhancement of chassis systems for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing field and on-site investigations and root cause analysis regarding chassis-related issues

What You Will Do:

  • Investigate and support the testing of chassis-related quality issues in Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and in cases of sudden increases in warranty claims
  • Utilize subjective and objective data from field and on-site investigations to analyze and diagnose root causes of chassis-related quality issues
  • Propose and validate solutions pertaining to chassis-related quality issues
  • Benchmark competitive vehicle designs, diagnostic procedures, and technical service bulletins (TSBs) to research differences and enhance NAQC's systems and materials
  • Identify market trends via customer feedback, external indices (e.g., J.D. Power, Consumer Reports), customer forums, and automotive syndicated studies
  • Research, procure, and maintain new technologies, tools, and methods for data acquisition and analysis purposes
  • Maintain project schedules by assisting vendors with any arising questions and/or issues
  • Create and present technical reports as assigned for management to review
  • Mentor junior engineers on best practices and facilitate on-the-job learning
  • Travel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally

What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or a related field of engineering
  • 3+ years of experience working with chassis systems
  • QA/QC/QI experience
  • Knowledge of chassis fundamentals (i.e., NVH, brake systems, fuel systems, HVAC systems, steering systems, and suspension systems)
  • Familiarity with vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition tools (i.e., LMS, thermal loggers, and Vector CANalyzer), service manuals, shop equipment (e.g., tire balancers, chargers, and lifts), and chassis-related test equipment
  • Root cause analysis skills
  • Experience conducting field and on-site investigations
  • Familiarity with performing testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities/tasks concerning chassis systems
  • Excellenttime management, self-management, and organization skills
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
