Vehicle Integration Systems Engineer II
General Position Overview The Vehicle Integration Systems Engineer II plays a key role in developing innovative products for emergency and utility vehicles, including police, ambulances, fire trucks, and amber/non-emergency applications. This position involves leading aspects of requirements elicitation and management, contributing to system architecture design, and overseeing system testing and integration using the V-model methodology. The Systems Engineer II collaborates with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions. Essential Job Functions

- Leads requirements elicitation for specific project components, collaborating with external and internal stakeholders.
- Translates stakeholder requirements into detailed system requirements.
- Guides the translation of system requirements into embedded software requirements.
- Facilitates requirements reviews with the development team, ensuring feedback is effectively incorporated.
- Manages requirements baselines and evaluates internal and external scope changes, proposing adjustments as needed.
- Develops and refines test cases for module-level and vehicle-level testing.
- Leads system integration efforts for assigned subsystems, ensuring software, firmware, mechanical, and electrical requirements are met.
- Aligns technical strategies with organizational goals, working with engineers and team leaders to solve complex problems.
- Identifies and analyzes system interfaces during the product development lifecycle, mitigating risks and ensuring stakeholder alignment.
- Conducts technical feasibility studies and risk assessments with the cross-disciplinary team.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, supporting analysis and certification processes.
- Establishes and maintains a cross-disciplinary test and validation plan using the V-model methodology, overseeing its execution.
- Ensures fault-free system operation for assigned components through rigorous testing and troubleshooting.
- Leads internal DFMEA and DVP&R processes for specific subsystems.
- Creates and maintains system and embedded software technical specification documentation, mentoring junior team members in documentation practices.
Job Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in an engineering role, with significant exposure to product development and embedded systems.
- Prior systems engineering experience preferred but not required; familiarity with the V-model or similar methodologies is a plus.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong understanding of relevant technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid methodology processes and principles.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and embedded systems.
- Ability to analyze interdependencies and complexity across system components.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively and mentor junior team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Jira and vehicle communication protocols (e.g., LIN, CAN, J1939).
- Proficiency with CAN network tools (e.g., CANalyzer, Vector tools) preferred.
- Ability to independently manage small projects or subsystems.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, rotate, and/or reach throughout an entire shift.
- Must be able to handle and work with small parts.
