Overview

POSITION: Pharmacy Tech for OHC's Retail Pharmacy

LOCATION: Blue Ash

WEEKLY HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 5:00

OHC - Specialists in Cancer and Blood Disorders is currently seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our Specialty Retail team. OHC is a private practice and the pharmacy ONLY services patients within OHC. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, hardworking, and knowledgeable about pharmacy operations. He/she should have strong organizational skills. Under direct supervision of OHC Pharmacists the technician performs the technical, non-judgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered pharmacist. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Specific state law may regulate that only licensed individuals perform compounding or mixing responsibilities. As the only independent adult cancer program in the region, we offer Medical, Radiation, Blood and Marrow Transplant, Gynecologic, and Breast Surgical Oncology services. OHC supports a robust cancer research and clinical trials program, neuro-oncology, cancer genetics specialists and supportive care program.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the preparation of medication orders under supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
  • Under direct supervision prepares all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
  • Assists in counting inventory weekly and maintains records.
  • Assists in cleaning protocols daily and ongoing. May also assist in inventory management. Performs other quality assurance activities as assigned.
  • Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
  • Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers. Provide support with inventory control of medications.
  • Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing. Basic data entry into department automation.
  • Print/file/maintain daily reports.
  • Submits prior authorizations.
  • Applies for financial assistance through cancer foundations and co-pay assistance for high dollar oral medications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry-level experience in a pharmacy.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate recommended unless required by state law.

Physical Demands:

  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to read and note appropriate measurements.
  • Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
