The Boiler/Plumber maintains all piping systems; troubleshoot, diagnose and make necessary repairs on plumbing related equipment; and hot water systems at all McKee Collegedale Facilities. Participates in projects and installations with other departments; work additional times as needed with "on call" requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on boilers, gas-fired hot water systems, and related piping and plumbing systems.
- Ensure boiler systems are operating safely and efficiently in compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
- Conduct annual boiler teardowns for state inspections.
- Support plumbing-related service calls as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments on new installations and facility improvement projects.
- Participate in on-call rotations and work additional hours as required.
- Continuously develop and expand technical knowledge and skillsets related to boiler systems.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience in each of the following:
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing high- and low-pressure piping systems.
- Installing and maintaining gas-fired hot water systems.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and equipment manuals.
- Comfortable working at various heights using ladders or platform lifts.
- Proficient with computer-based systems and maintenance software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
- Strong safety record and reliable attendance history.
- Ability to work flexible hours and extended shifts, including outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle operation requirements.
- Current lift truck certification or ability to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with steam and hot water boilers, burners, gas systems, associated controls, electrical circuits, and combustion systems.
- Experience with Kemco hot water systems.
- Functional knowledge of plumbing and steam maintenance troubleshooting techniques.
- Completion of a two-year degree in an industrial mechanical or vocational program, or a formal apprenticeship.
- Broad plumbing experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
