BlueHalo is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team within the Advanced RF Systems (ARFS) division. As a part of this team, you will be a key member operating in an innovative environment for designing and manufacturing phased array solutions. This role involves creating, maintaining, and editing technical documentation, including test procedures, user manuals, and slide presentations, to ensure they meet DoD standards and effectively communicate technical information. Key Responsibilities
- Document Test Procedures: Write and maintain clear, accurate, and comprehensive test procedure documentation to support ARFS operations and activities.
- User Manual Creation: Compile, structure, and update user manuals, ensuring they are well-organized, user-friendly, and technically precise.
- Slide Presentation Review & Clean-up: Regularly review, update, and clean up slide presentations for internal and external audiences, ensuring they follow proper DoD standards and convey clear, concise information.
- Content Review and Quality Assurance: Review and edit technical engineering documentation, including design specifications, procedures, manuals, and plans, for accuracy, clarity, and quality.
- Technical and Scientific Illustration Production: Produce technical illustrations for publications, presentations, and other media, integrating graphics, text, and other media effectively.
- Ensure Adherence to Style Guide: Ensure that all documents and presentations conform to the established style guide, maintaining consistency across all materials.
- Research and Collaboration: Gather information, interview subject matter experts, and conduct research to accurately convey technical content across a range of documentation types.
- Proofreading and Editing: Proofread and edit technical content, including reports, articles, memoranda, presentations, and other materials to ensure proper grammar, spelling, and formatting according to DoD standards.
- Media Coordination: Assist content providers in determining the appropriate format for content across various media channels, including print, digital, and web-based platforms.
- Maintain Documentation Version Control: Ensure that documentation is up-to-date, properly version-controlled, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical writing and editing experience, preferably within the Department of Defense or government agencies.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain a US Department of Defense Top-Secret SCI Clearance. Active US Department of Defense Secret or Top-Secret Clearance preferred.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in English, communications, journalism, computer science, web design, engineering, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Proven experience writing and editing technical documentation, manuals, test procedures, and presentations.
- Familiarity with DoD technical writing standards and guidelines.
- Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and present complex information clearly.
- Strong proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, Confluence, PowerPoint).
- Experience creating and formatting technical illustrations and diagrams.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Desired Qualifications
- Certifications: Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC), Certified Technical Professional (CTP), or similar technical communication certification.
- Experience: Prior experience with DoD or government agencies and familiarity with phased array-related documentation.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position. BlueHalo Supports a flexible work schedule including a hybrid schedule (1-2 days per week)
- This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.
- Note that this is NOT a remote role. You must be local to Albuquerque NM.
