The Lubrication Lifetime Solutions division
of SKF consists of a global team that develops and manufactures lubrication solutions and tools & equipment for use in industrial applications and automotive shops.
Job Summary:
The Production Planning Manager will develop, supervise, and support the execution of the Master Schedule to Finished Goods. Implement planning rules that support schedule achievement and meet inventory goals as specified by management. Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Master Scheduler and Sales to achieve accurate and timely implementation of new products and engineering changes, while minimizing associated excess inventories.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise production planning department in daily activities
- Perform rough cut capacity planning
- Participate in Value Stream Mapping to identify bottlenecks and plan for capacity growth
- Provide the shop floor with work as required to meet production schedules and maintain productive operation
- Identify and address problems which may interfere with schedule attainment
- Prioritize work to meet schedules, customer needs, and maintain shop floor productivity
- Work with Customer Service, Manufacturing and Purchasing as required to deliver special orders. Adjust schedules and advise Manufacturing accordingly.
- Identify production problems throughout the manufacturing operation and notify customer service of impact on delivery
- Establish appropriate procedures, train and supervise Production Planners to assure competence in the use of the MRP system and preparation of weekly assembly schedules.
- Maintain, handle grievances, schedule overtime, maintain staffing, take disciplinary actions and comply with union contract provisions.
- Develop and use JDE on-line reports appropriate employee records and queries as required to perform Production Planning function. Work with IT to develop and maintain reports and systems to enhance job efficiency.
- Build & review the master schedule to correlate with material/capacity or customer needs. Provide effective capacity planning information as needed to identify required manufacturing resources (employee and capital).
- Identify and implement improvements in scheduling techniques that result in more obtainable schedules and/or shorter lead times to the market
- Supervise implementation (through Production Planners) of new products and engineering changes. Work closely with all related departments to minimize excess and obsolete inventory and achieve targeted phase-in/phase-out dates
Job Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Four-year degree or equivalent in business or materials management.
- Five years' experience in a manufacturing planning environment
- One year of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Job Skills, Knowledge and other requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of MRP based Manufacturing Planning Systems and inventory and production management.
- Effective communication skills both written and orally
- Organized, detail oriented and team driven
- Ability to remain flexible and adaptable to constant change
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills
