Test Technician Whippany Actuation Systems is actively recruiting for an experienced Test Technician to build, test, diagnose and repair test equipment used in the production and testing of electromechanical actuators and components. In this role you will, perform qualification testing (vibration, thermal, functional, etc.), product acceptance testing and validation testing to support production requirements and New Product Introduction. Records and interprets test data, maintains required records and files. Whippany Actuation Systems serves the aerospace and defense industries by designing, manufacturing, and servicing custom electromechanical actuation solutions for commercial and military applications. Responsibilities:
- Performs qualification tests per approved procedures and prepares the required documentation
- Troubleshoots and repairs functional test systems or equipment in support of production and qualification testing
- Performs acceptance testing of product and troubleshoots product as necessary to meet acceptance criteria.
- Assembles and wires new test rigs in accordance with instructions, diagrams and/or schematics
- Performs validation testing of newly introduced test equipment
- Performs vibration and environmental stress screening (ESS) testing on production units
- Monitors all measurements during testing for accuracy and repeatability and determines if values are within expected ranges
- Prepares technical reports summarizing findings and recommends solutions to technical problems
- Performs calibration of custom test systems and components and coordinates activity of outside calibration services
- Participates in 5S and Lean activities
- Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction with both internal and external customers
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in an engineering or electronics discipline (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 additional years of technical experience in manufacturing environment)
- Two years' technical experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Authorization to work in the US
Eligibility Requirements: This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience operating and troubleshooting test equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Good soldering skills and the ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings
- Must have a proven ability to operate general electronic test equipment such as digital multi-meters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, waveform generators, signal analyzers and programmable power supplies.
- Technical writing skills and ability to generate reports
- Ability to troubleshoot down to the component level
- Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing equipment a
- Familiarity with environmental chambers and vibration generators
- Good communication and computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office products , ORCAD Schematic Capture
- Must be a self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
- Requires wearing common protective equipment
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
- Requires repeating the same physical activities or mental activities over and over
- Requires standing for extended periods of time and ability to reach overhead
