THE POSITION

The PA Department of Transportation has an opening for a Clerical Assistant 2 who will be responsible for receiving M-371A forms from inspection staff and reviewing to ensure all sections are completed correctly. Once verified, these forms along with other inspection forms will be scanned and processed into the Electronic Permit system (EPS) in the District 4-0 Engineering Office.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Duties and responsibilities of this position include the following. The Clerical Assistant 2 will assist permit inspection manager with printing of permits from E-Permitting system (EPS). Will also ensure that completed Pre-EPS permits are scanned appropriately and uploaded into EPS. M-371A "Billing Under Agreement" forms are checked for correct calculation and when required payroll additives are added. Verify that (information from computer) all; address information, Highway Occupancy permit (HOP) #, State Route, Segment and Offset is correct. Keep current of all rates, miles, hourly rate and payroll additive. Invoice permittee and verify if bills are paid in the EPS (e-permitting System). This position is responsible for Emergency Certificates in EPS and emergency permit cards and assists with creation of certificates when needed. Responds to questions concerning EPC from customers. Creates Emergency permit applications on behalf of customers when emergencies are called in.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm or 7:00am to 3:00pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore, PA.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
