SUMMARY: The primary focus of this role will be to oversee all Mortgage Sales, which includes Mortgage Sales Managers and Mortgage Loan Officer in the delivery of mortgage loan products and services. Coaching for proper prospecting techniques, administering Bank policies, and setting mortgage sales goals are key aspects of this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead and direct the Bank's mortgage sales force, establish and execute sales goals while maintaining sound risk management with regard to credit quality
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Mortgage Operations Manager to facilitate new lending initiatives, development of new products and services and new sales campaigns
  • Provide guidance for new and existing lenders related to complex loans
  • Oversee and respond to all customer issues unresolvable by individual lenders or Mortgage Sales Managers
  • Develop and implement mortgage sales strategies to achieve profitability through production goals and gain on sale activities
  • Develop and maintain mortgage consultants' compensation plan in compliance with federal law and regulations, working directly with Human Resources
  • Lead recruitment efforts in partnership with Human Resources to source, recruit and hire new lending consultants
  • Ensure effective participation in outside calling sales efforts to maximize market share gain opportunities
  • Partner with Bank, Trust, and other company-wide business lines to identify opportunities and cross-sell bank products according to the needs of the client
  • Manage a team of Mortgage Sales Managers
  • Incumbent will ensure that he/she personally meets all compliance requirements associated with government regulations (S.A.F.E. Act, Dodd-Frank legislation, etc.)
  • Provide input on all mortgage processes and procedures to build and maintain strong relationships between the Bank and its clients
  • In conjunction with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) coordinators and other staff, lead affordable housing efforts to effectively serve low-to-moderate markets
  • Correspond with branch lending personnel to better communicate the overall loan policies as they relate to the mortgage loan programs
  • Ensure adherence to Mortgage Lending policies and procedures, including government regulations, secondary market requirements, acceptable compliance and quality control audit performance
  • Promote and support all company efforts to serve our clients and expand our market share
  • Travel to multiple locations, including various bank offices, client offices, and residential homes will be required. Reliable transportation is necessary for this position.
  • Complete all mandatory and elective training, including BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and Anti-Money Laundering procedures. Maintain compliance with all appropriate rules and regulations
  • Regular, predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position
  • Complete all other duties as assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position may supervise a group of Mortgage Sales Managers. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Bank's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:



  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required (Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Business preferred)
  • NMLS certification required (or obtained upon hire)
  • Minimum of seven (10) years' experience as a residential mortgage loan originator with at least three (5) years as a sales manager
  • Thorough knowledge of FHLMC and FNMA, and private mortgage company guidelines and procedures
  • FHA/VA knowledge required
  • Proven understanding of mortgage terminology, documentation, and regulations
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate terms, conditions, and specific meanings for all loan documents to clients
  • Proven ability to manage production level officers, interface productivity with loan administration staff, outside and internal referral sources, fellow associates
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word)
  • A clean driving record is required
