NS2 Mission is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Developer to support a critical government modernization initiative in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you'll develop secure, scalable cloud microservices and contribute to innovative solutions that support national priorities. This role requires a developer who thrives in an Agile environment, is proficient in modern DevOps practices, and can work collaboratively across teams to create high-quality software solutions that deliver real-world value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and deploy resilient and performant microservices in a cloud environment.
  • Write clean, efficient, and scalable code using Python, Java, and scripting languages.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to ensure seamless front-end and back-end integration.
  • Adhere to approved design standards, software development lifecycle practices, and secure coding principles.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems, analyze potential solutions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Innovate and contribute to the evolution of the software development process.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline development and infrastructure automation.
  • Work within Agile Scrum teams, contributing to sprint planning, development, testing, and reviews.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience in a technical/scientific discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed, cross-platform applications, orchestration, and security.
  • Proficiency with software quality assurance practices, including automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies and DevOps principles such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Proven ability to develop applications using RESTful APIs in cloud environments (preferably AWS).
  • Proficient in Python, Java, and one or more scripting languages.
  • Hands-on experience with databases including NoSQL and file-based storage systems (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server).
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Puppet, and Terraform.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and implementation.
  • Experience in client-side development using technologies like Java Swing, EXT JS, JSP/HTML.
  • Solid foundation in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with data lakes, Databricks, or similar big data technologies.
  • Experience working with web server technologies such as Tomcat, WebLogic, IIS, and HTTPCore.
  • Understanding of DevOps and release engineering best practices.
