Job Description

Position Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for working with Suppliers, Design Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain for the selection of qualified suppliers and improvement of supplier performance to provide a positive impact on the quality of new and existing products. We are seeking a diligent Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee our supplier quality control functions. Your responsibilities will include conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interface with business units, cross-functional groups and suppliers on support tasks related to Quality & OTD, FA (Failure Analysis), RCCA (Root Cause Analysis / Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions)
  • A dynamic personality style with the ability and willingness to promote appropriate change and improvement
  • Ability to find and evaluate risks within the supply chain and propose long-term solutions
  • Lead containment activities for supplier-related quality spills and improve efficiency of screening defects
  • Establishes and drives process performance and controls (SPC) reviews at Supplier
  • Solid understanding of receiving inspection processes including statistical sampling, component measurement techniques, specifications, drawings, AS9102 FAIR
  • Issue FA & RCCA reports to suppliers, follow up, review and approve suppliers' questions/requests
  • Excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills required with thorough working knowledge of Quality systems methods and practices (Control Plans, Lean Manufacturing concepts, Root Cause Analysis, etc.)
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and support the development of key suppliers
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize the workload, assess escalation needs
  • Must be open to travel as needed (up to 50% Local suppliers)

Desired Experience and/or Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Structural, Systems, or related field from an Accredited Institution
  • Preferred: 5+ years in supplier quality discipline
  • Prior Supplier Quality and/or Supplier Development experience throughout the lifecycle of products
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations including AS9100, AS9102, ISO9001, AS13100, & NADCAP requirements
  • This position requires the use of information or access to hardware that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) not necessary to add on skill/experience
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Experience with problem solving methodology such as A3 and 8D
  • Experience leading complex projects with remote team members
  • Significant experience working directly with customers and suppliers
  • Leadership skills demonstration (Lead & Influence the teams)
  • Build relationships internally and with the suppliers
  • Effective Communication (Status, Risk identification, Plans, Help needed)
  • Proactive Approach (Meeting deadlines, presenting improvements, driving improvement plans)

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $90,000 to $127,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
