Tax Accountant

HealthPartners is hiring a Tax Accountant. This role is responsible for the proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Other responsibilities include, the timely filing of monthly sales/use tax returns, preparing and resolving payroll tax, sales/use tax and property tax account issues and reconciliations, utilizing thinking & problem-solving skills. They will analyze cause/effect relationships and considers consequences of future actions. This role works independently with other Finance team members, departments, locations and cost center managers to resolve accounting matters. They will develop solutions to a variety of problems of simple to moderate scope and complexity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

o Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.

o 2-3 years accounting experience

* Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

o Strong PC and systems background with proven efficiency in spreadsheet and relational database software.

o Ability to analyze data, research accounting principles and methodologies, and work independently.

o Strong oral and written communication skills.

o Proficient in operating: Personal computer (spreadsheet, word processing, and database applications), mainframe software, printer, telephone, calculator, fax, and photocopier.

o Working knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

o Some tax experience or tax education preferred

o Experience with Oracle financial systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Each duty should not be less than 10%)

1. (50%) - Account reconciliations and analytical review of tax related areas.

2. (25%) - Entering monthly tax related transactions into the Oracle financial system

3. (15%) - Work with other areas within Finance, Payroll and Human Resources on tax related matters.

4. (10%) - Special project work related to tax audits and research.
